Dog and cat showing, breeding, and training

Our Breeding Plans:

Upcoming Breeding Planned between:
SG Fayr van Corsalabroek, HIC
Our "C" Litter will be a fantastic breeding to a European German Shepherd dog. Right now we are considering 2 very different males - a "highline" and a "workingline" male - but for the same reasons. We are looking to produce puppies with exceptional temperament and work ethic along with sound, solid structure. One thing we have noticed among the high-ranking "showline" European GSDs in recent years is the tendency toward "roached" or "arched" toplines (their backs are humped, and in some cases even "hinge" backed). While there are "reasons" that the German judges use to excuse, and even "reward" this trait, I personally feel it is a deformity that adversely affects the health of the dog. And just as the extreme angulation and loose ligamentation adversely affect the American line GSDs, I feel that the roached back in the European showline dogs is just as detrimental. It is also INCORRECT according to ANY of the Breed Standards - whether you follow a German or American description. There is no paragraph in any Standard that calls for a roached topline. While I am sure this may be an inflammatory subject among those who "breed to win in the Seiger Show ring" as their stock generally carries the arched back characteristic, I simply cannot justify producing a fault that I consider a deformity. I can't imagine pawning off a roach-backed puppy on someone and saying it is conformationally correct - even though that's what the judges are putting up on the winner's podium.

The goal of my breeding program is to produce a GSD that is suitable for a variety of applications - from the Schutzhund field to the family room. My own bitch works as a Mobility Assistance Service Dog for me, so a stable, calm, APPROPRIATE temperament is important to me. A solid work ethic is equally as important and strong "pack bonding" behavior with their people is key. Solid, sturdy structure is also one of my primary concerns - I want a dog that can LAST for a LONG time doing it's "job" whatever that may be. I test for just about everything under the sun - hips, elbows, thyroid, heart, eyes and MOST importantly, DEGENERATIVE MYELOPATHY (DM) a debilitating genetic disorder that causes crippling nerve problems similar to Multiple Sclerosis (MS) in humans. There is a new test for DM, so I HIGHLY advise that you make sure your breeder tests for this disease. There is no excuse not to. My bitch is clear, and I insist on testing the male I use, so I can make appropriate breeding decisions.

I welcome any and all inquiries and I am happy to help you, should you be interested in learning more about our goals, dogs, breeding program, etc.

We will be posting information on this breeding as it is available, feel free to contact us for more details.
